Breaking Down Barriers with UDL

By analyzing opportunities in units and daily lessons, we can anticipate barriers our learners face, allowing us to cater to their needs and provide autonomy in how they demonstrate understanding.

Outcomes:
  1. Understand UDL Basics: Participants will be able to explain the three main ideas of UDL—different ways to engage students, present information, and allow students to show what they know.
  2. Spot Learning Barriers: Participants will learn to recognize challenges their students might face and how UDL can help overcome these challenges.
  3. Use UDL Strategies: Participants will discover practical ideas and tools to include UDL in their lesson plans and activities to support all learners.
  4. Share and Collaborate: Participants will discuss their experiences and brainstorm ways to use UDL in their classrooms, building a supportive community.
  5. Create an Action Plan: By the end of the session, participants will make a simple plan for how they will start using UDL ideas in their teaching.You will learn to use the UDL guidelines to identify and address barriers to students' success.
