Navigating Authentic Learning in the World of Evolving AI Generated Content and Supports in Middle and High School Settings
Saturday November 9, 2024 11:30am - 12:30pm JST
As Generative AI tools continue to integrate within our online learning experiences and processes, educators may be starting to feel lost in deciphering what constitutes a learner's organic efforts from Generated AI outputs. This structured job-alike workshop allows for open discussion of individual scenarios in which educators have struggled and/or found success in navigating this potential paradigm shift in HOW we expect learners to learn.

Outcomes:
Participants will gain insight through a variety of shared experiences from teachers and administrators on the complex dance between traditional organic learning processes, using Generative AI as a tool to enhance learning, and an evolving gray zone of what constitutes authenticity.

This lecture will be a demonstration of how I have significantly reduced administration and communication tasks by creating an automized form submission and response system. It will also touch upon how to troubleshoot with ChatGPT to figure out how to customize automations. After this brief lecture, I will engage the participants in a discussion to help them to start automating their own systems to increase productivity and workflow.

Outcomes:
Understanding how to use ChatGPT to code in Google Docs, Forms, Gmail, and Sheets to automate repetitive tasks. Using forms to generate customized email responses based on answers.

Using AI to Support MTSS (Multi-tiered Support Systems)
Saturday November 9, 2024 11:30am - 12:30pm JST
In “Using AI to Support MTSS,” participants will learn practical applications for using AI to facilitate a multi-tiered support system. This session is not a “what is AI” session, but rather a way to take the tools that we have, choose the best ones, and put them into action. During the session, tips will be shared for using AI to write behavior plans, which tools to use to support teachers in differentiating instruction throughout the PK-12 school, how to generate behavior reflections for students, using AI to support restorative practices, and how AI can help to document student progress and supports provided. We will explore a variety of AI tools that are useful for school leaders, teachers, and students and have time to utilize these tools to put MTSS plans into action.

Outcomes:
Participants in this sessions will learn about:
  • Different AI tools and options, including which are optimal for MTSS in schools
  • Using AI for behavior interventions and restorative practices
  • Using AI for academic interventions and differentiation
  • Using AI to support documentation of student support systems
