Transforming Student Learning with Standards-Based Grading

In this interactive workshop, participants will explore the foundational principles and practical implementation of Standards-Based Grading (SBG). We will discuss how SBG shifts the focus from traditional point-based grading to a system that emphasizes mastery of learning objectives, promoting student growth and clarity in assessment. Through group discussions, hands-on activities, and real-world examples, attendees will learn how to create and use standards-based rubrics, provide meaningful feedback, and navigate challenges in transitioning to SBG. By the end of the session, participants will leave with actionable strategies to begin implementing SBG in their schools, taking small steps that can have a big impact on student learning and engagement.

Outcomes:
Participants will,
  1. be able to understand the core principles of standards based grading (SBG)
  2. learn practical strategies for implementing SBG 
  3. identify challenges transitioning to SBG
  4. experience hands-on application
